Choosing what to share
Digital business card or company deck: what should you share?
Use a digital business card when the next step is contacting a person. Use a company deck when someone needs a short company introduction, useful links and a clear next action. In Company Share Deck, these are different entry points: one leads with a person’s card and the other with the company story.
“Company deck” here means the product’s browsable sequence of company cards. It does not mean that the recipient downloads a presentation or that every digital business-card service works this way.
Start with the next useful action
This is a choice about the conversation, not a requirement to build three versions of everything. If someone only asked for your email address, a long company introduction may add work. If they need to understand the organisation, a name and phone number may leave their question unanswered.
These choices and the suggested information order are editorial recommendations, not a formal industry definition or a proven conversion result.
What should come first on a contact card?
A contact-first page should make it easy to recognise the person and decide how to get in touch. Name, role, organisation and relevant contact actions usually matter more at that moment than a long description.
Company Share Deck’s individual preview entry starts with a person’s contact card. The recipient can then explore the company information. The company entry starts with the organisation’s story instead. The preview walkthrough explains these prepared examples.
Neither entry requires the recipient to create an account or install the product. This does not mean that a linked third-party resource will always be publicly accessible.
What belongs in a company introduction?
Give the recipient enough context to understand who the company is, what it does and where to go next. Keep unrelated material out of the way.
The Attenta example introduces the company, explains its work, presents the team and offers careers and contact destinations. It demonstrates one possible structure; it is not a claim that those sections are right for every company.
Choose the first card deliberately. A team member at a networking event may want to lead with their own contact details, while a company introduction may call for the organisation’s overview first.
Once you have chosen the destination, read how to share a digital business card with a QR code. For event preparation and follow-up, use the conference contact-exchange checklist.
Check document links before sharing them
A QR code does not grant permission to view the resource behind it. If you share a brochure or company profile, use a version approved for its intended audience and test the actual receiving experience while signed out.
For example, Google Drive’s sharing guidance distinguishes viewer, commenter and editor access, as well as restricted and general-access sharing. Work or school policies may restrict external sharing. Google also notes that a shared file can show its owner’s name and email.
Do not make a confidential document public merely to remove a login prompt. Prepare an approved public version or use an appropriate controlled sharing method. Label the link accurately: Open document is clearer than promising a download when the destination is a viewer.
Company Share Deck’s direction is to link to original media in its owner’s storage, not to host those original files. The current public preview does not let visitors upload a brochure or publish a new company deck.
A stable page is not an automatically updated phone contact
The product uses stable web destinations so the QR can continue to point to the same page. That is different from a contact someone has imported into their phone.
Where a VCF file is offered, the recipient must confirm its import. Editing a webpage does not automatically update an already imported contact. Read the contact-saving explanation before treating the two as interchangeable.
Compare the examples without creating real contact records
Use the existing preview to compare the person-first and company-first entry points. If you test Send details back, enter fictional details only. These test exchanges are temporary and belong to the original sharing device; they are not a shared company address book.
Hosted editing, public accounts, AI enrichment, cross-device saving and a company inbox are not available. The AI and company-wide checkboxes record inactive preferences only.
See the current preview limits, or register interest to discuss future access. That separate form does not create an account or unlock editing.
Use fictional contact details only.
